Ashanti Shequoiya, who was born Douglas, is famously known as Ashanti. Ashanti was birthed on the 13th of October, 1980 on the shores of Glen Cove New York United States. She is a musician, singer and actress who hails from the United States. Ashanti began her professional career when she was a teenager and was eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. The same year, she was featured as a guest on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? The song "What's love?" by Fat Joe as well as Ja Rule's song "Always on Time were both huge hits. She sampled DeBarge's 1983 single Stay With Me on her debut single Foolish. Ashanti's first self-titled album that was released on Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration, Ashanti's fourth studio album, was released on June 3, 2008. Hey Baby (After The Club) came out on radio stations and digital platforms on 16 October. She also starred in the films Christmas in the City, Army Wives and Latasha Monteclair. The song she sang Rock wit U was sampled by British artist Aitch for his song Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
